Following the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum
Every child deserves the best start in life and support to fulfil their potential.
In January 2016 we were graded as Outstanding provision in this area by Ofsted.
We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum and firmly believe that children are competent learners from birth. All nurseries, pre-schools, reception classes and childminders registered to deliver EYFS must follow a legal document called the Early Years Foundation Stage.
At West Street Pre-school, children learn through play and first hand experiences, supported by enthusiastic, knowledgeable staff. We use the 'Characteristics of Effective Learning' when recording our observations into their on line Tapestry Learning Journals (2018). Parents can view these and input their own comments on their child's learning at home. The staff use appropriate teaching techniques to support individual children's needs. Within a small, but fantastic indoor environment, that is very well resourced.
Also embracing our 'partially covered in ' outdoor areas to maximise children's learning experiences. Whatever the weather, we take advantage of our richly resourced outdoor area to stimulate and challenge children further. West Street Pre-school offers an inclusive environment for all.
Our child development '0n line' file recordings by the child’s Key Person, are covering the Early Years Foundation Stage, which is divided into 2 areas with seven aspects.
- Personal, Social and Emotional development
- Communication Language
- Physical development
- Understanding the world
- Expressive Arts and Design
